Dear Center School Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We have been through challenging times over the last several years, and we hope that you and your loved ones have remained in good health. As we continue to adapt to ongoing challenges, we want to say THANK YOU to our community for your support for the PTA, teachers and staff of The Center School.
We are grateful to be part of The Center School community, which is dedicated to the intellectual and social development of our children. Through the challenges of middle school, The Center School creates an atmosphere where children feel good about themselves and about learning. We know The Center School will continue to provide the best possible educational and social experience no matter the circumstances. But they can’t do it alone!
In past years, we have relied on our auction to raise over $100,000 to pay for PTA and school expenses. We don’t know yet what this year’s auction will look like, and we need to plan as a community to secure a larger portion of our fundraising goal with this initial pledge drive.
Each year, the PTA spends over $500 per child to support Center School’s programming, including:
- Computer Teacher/Specialist
- Urban Fellows Program (paying for 2 of our fabulous teachers each year)
- Additional lockers so all students have access to one
- New Computers for all teachers
- Outside speakers and educational events
- Dues and supplies for student programs, like Debate club and TACS performances
- Participation in a nationally-sponsored spelling bee
- Never-ending purchases of books & supplies
The Center School relies on your donations to fund essential programs that the Department of Education budget does not. State and city budgets only meet the bare minimum of a public school’s needs, covering the salaries of teachers, staff and administration.
This year, we have to rely on YOU, our Center School family.
We are asking ALL families to make a donation to our annual pledge drive. All donations in any amount are greatly appreciated and make a positive impact on our children’s educational experience. Every donation makes a difference – our goal is 100% participation!

How much should I give?
Each year, the PTA spends over $500 per child. Please consider a donation in this amount, but every donation is appreciated. Whether you give
$20 or $2,000, every dollar counts! Our goal is 100% family participation.
Why is the annual pledge drive important?
While in past years our annual auction has raised over $100,000 to support our programming, we will not be able to rely on the auction this year and must rely more on our pledge drive to support our fundraising goals.
What does your contribution fund?
COVID related expenses. The salary for our essential computer teacher/specialist.
Two teachers from the Urban Fellows Program. Much, much more.
How can I double my gift?
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Find out if your company has a matching gift policy.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes! 100% of your donation to the annual pledge drive is tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Center School PTA is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Matching Contributions
