We have several events scheduled over the next few weeks that will provide you with an opportunity to engage with the Center School Community in a variety of ways – Community Coffee, Parent Education Series, CRJE Event and Monthly PTA Meeting. Each of these activities are detailed below.

For the Adults
Community Coffee
We look forward to hosting our next community coffee this Friday, January 20th in the school cafeteria.
We will host the coffee directly following drop-off. Families can enter through the 83rd Street entrance (This is where the students enter.) and proceed to the cafeteria. If you plan to arrive late, you will need to enter through the 84th Street entrance. Please have an ID available.
Following the coffee, you will need to exit the school at security located on the 84th Street side of the school.
Parent Education Series
On February 8th at 6:30 pm, we will have a Parent Education Zoom with Roger Stark, the Founder and CEO of BrainWare, and Betsy Hill, an educator using the neuroscience of learning in the classroom, who are co-authors of a new book “Your Child Learns Differently, Now What?“. They will talk about how children learn differently and how parents can understand, help and guide our kids based on these differences in Cognitive skills.
CRJE Event
The Committee for Racial Justice and Equity, along with the Center School Teachers, will give families a glimpse into some of the courses at Center School that teach students about some injustices in history, connect choices from the past to today, and consider how to build a more equitable future.
This discussion will be hosted on Monday, January 23rd on Zoom, directly following the PTA Meeting.
For the Kids
Ice Skating
Center School students are scheduled to go ice skating on Friday, January 27th. Students are asked to bring $10. If you have questions, please contact your student’s Advisor.
Picture Day
Center School students are scheduled to have Picture Day on Monday, February 13th.
Auction
Has your family donated TWO ITEMS yet to the Center School Auction?
Our March 9th Auction/Potluck Dinner (our biggest fundraiser of the entire year) is right around the corner.
All families will be invited to Center School for Curriculum Night (3:30-6pm) to be followed by the Auction/Potluck Dinner held in the cafeteria (beginning at 6pm). It’s a very special day, and a highlight of the school year at Center, for those who have yet to experience it. All are welcome – students, parents, siblings….
In order to make this fundraiser a success, we ask for TWO donations per family. While we’ve received many terrific donations, we have not heard from most of you. The deadline for donations is February 20th.

Remember, no donation is too big or too small.
Additionally, our auction will feature the return of the very popular WINE PULL:
What does that mean? We need WINE DONATIONS. All wines should retail for at least $20 per bottle. You can bring the bottle to auction on March 9th or drop it off at the school office before then. If you would rather make a cash donation and have suitable wines purchased on your behalf, that is fine too! Contact Mark Margolis, who is heading up the Wine Pull at mlm2@cornell.edu.
