School & Community Events
Field Day:
A note was sent from Ms. Hand today, but as a reminder Field Day is tomorrow, Friday, October 5th. A few reminders –
- Students need to bring their lunch (packed in a disposable bag, labeled with their name.)
- They should wear tennis shoes (maybe not their cleanest, most sparkly pair though!)
- Pack an extra pair of socks
- Wear their team color
The school will be monitoring the weather and will make a final decision in the morning, so all kids should be ready for field day, but also be ready to have classes. Should we be forced to postpone because of rain, we’ll take to the field the following Friday (the 13th).
Mix & Mingle:
Friday, October 20 at Center School from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. The Mix & Mingle is a community event that brings families, students and Center School staff together. More details to follow.
Student Fundraiser
The students are officially kicking off their fundraising with Charleston Wrap® – and need YOUR help! To reach our goals and make this fundraiser a success, we need everyone to do their part. Luckily, it’s super easy! Included with this newsletter, you’ll find a flier with detailed instructions about how you can register online and support our students’ goals. We appreciate all of your support and encourage you to spread the word to your friends & family, near and far! Thank you for your help! – The Center School and its students
Auction
The Center School Auction will be held March 7, 2024. This is our school’s largest fundraiser and supports much of what makes our community so special, including our priceless computer teacher, enrichment programs such as theater arts and field trips and technology purchases to keep our students up to date on the ever-changing tech climate!
Next week, we will be announcing the theme (get very excited, it’s a good one) and we will be sending home information regarding donations.
We are requesting two donations per household. We will also be announcing the next auction meeting in next week’s newsletter.
To everyone who has signed up to help on the committee, “Thank you!” To those who want to get involved, it is never too late.

UWS Outreach
COAT DRIVE FOR MIGRANT FAMILIES
We are collecting coats/jackets/scarves/hats/gloves for migrant families in the neighborhood. It’s that time of year… if your children have outgrown last winter’s gear, you can donate any item! We will take items for adults and children. Have your student bring them into the Center School office. Questions? Email sara.leeder@gmail.com.
