- Don’t forget to check out the Auction basketball ticket promotion, it ends tonight!
- The read-a-thon started yesterday and runs for the entire month of February.
- The all-school ice-skating outing is Friday, February 9th!
- Our next COMMUNITY COFFEE is Friday, February 9th! We will host the coffee in the school cafeteria following drop-off. Don’t forget to bring your reusable coffee cup!

Committee for Racial Justice and Equity (CRJE):
In honor of Black History Month, the Center School’s Racial Justice and Equity (CRJE) committee compiled a list of books by Black authors. The curated list includes links to Goodreads reviews in case parents want to assess the works for suitability. Toward the bottom of the doc, you will find links to additional lists that you may find helpful.

The next CRJE meeting is Monday, February 5th at 6:30 pm on Zoom.
All are welcome and we are here to support and listen to the experiences of families, students, and staff, especially those who represent communities who are marginalized. We seek to increase the sense of belonging at the school.
Auction
Got Sneakers?:
We had an amazing collection for Got Sneakers! Thank you all so much for your participation.
Each day we shipped out bags upon bags of sneakers.
We will be announcing the final amount collected next week.
Donations:
The auction is fast approaching, and we are still seeking donations.
This month we will be sending out sign-up sheets for the event, announcing a donation deadline and providing lots more information about online bidding and registration. Please stay tuned.

Attention College Basketball Fans:
The last day to purchase tickets to the Columbia Lions Women’s College Basketball Game v. Brown at 7:00 pm on February 9, 2024, is February 2nd (today)

Special Events
We are excited to get our Special Events calendar going and we need your help!
If you can help organize any of the following three great events, please email centerschoolspecialevents@gmail.com and put “Volunteer” in the subject line.
- Chamber Music Night is confirmed for April 15 at 6:00 PM and space is limited to about twenty (20) people.
- If you would like to attend, please RSVP to centerschoolspecialevents@gmail.com and put “Chamber Music Night” in the subject line.
- Limit is two (2) people per Center School family (adults only)
- We have rescheduled Writers Night for April 3
- Singers and Songwriters Night will take place in May or June, exact date TBD (details to follow)
Manhattan Youth February Break Camp
We are excited to provide FREE educational support and enrichment services for CURRENT middle school students during this break thanks to funding from the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
Here are a few reminders:
- Each camp will run from February 20-February 23 (Tue-Fri)
- Students who sign up are expected to attend their respective camps for the entire week.
- For each camp, doors will open at 9am for breakfast/arrival, and dismissals will happen between 2:45-3:00 PM
- Lunch is provided, but students are welcome to bring their own lunches before they enter the building; they will not be allowed out for lunch.

- If your desired camp is full, there will be a waitlist input as soon as possible; continue to check back on the same registration page.
