Updates & Reminders:

  • The Administration is hosting a 7th grade family high school information session on Wednesday, March 13th from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. The meeting will be hosted in the school and is for current 7th grade families only. The meeting will not be streamed, but we will distribute a written FAQ afterward. Childcare will be provided.
  • We have a Community Coffee on Wednesday, March 13th in the courtyard after drop off.
  • TACS Show & PTA Meeting: Thursday, March 21st at 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM
  • Calendar UPDATE: 8th Grade Show is Thursday, May 30th.
  • The read-a-thon was AMAZING! Thank you for your support. We are still waiting for some final tallies (check with your child to make sure they turned in their signed reading log).  We will have final numbers next week, but we have already raised over $19,000 for the school trip and most kids surpassed the goal of 870 minutes for the month of February, with a large number reading more than double that. Collections continue through Thursday, March 14th.
  • Check out the Auction Food and Volunteer Sign up below 👇
  • IMPORTANT SCHOOL BUILDING UPDATE: The DOE has installed a new video doorbell system.  Beginning next Wednesday, the door at 84th Street will be locked, and visitors will need to be buzzed in to check in at the security desk.  This will not affect the kids during the morning arrival or dismissal, but parents picking students up in the middle of the day will need to be buzzed in.

This is always a beloved part of the Center School Auction, where families share their favorite dishes with our school community.

If you would like to donate money to purchase pizza, more food and beverages, indicate in the sign-up. Send money or a personal check to school with your students. Suggested $25.00 donation per family.

Summer Camp Opportunity for Center School students who are interested in theater arts and production at the Lucy Moses School

These are PAID internships open to incoming 8th graders or graduating 8th graders interested in gaining experience in theater production. Those participating will be instructed on the basics of set and props design, and participate in building the set and props for the Summer Musical Theater Workshop (SMTW) https://www.kaufmanmusiccenter.org/lms/class/c17423/. SMTW is a month-long summer day camp in which staff and campers produce up to seven original musicals as a full-scale production at Merkin Hall.

For those who aren’t yet qualified for the internship, or for those who are more interested in the performative aspect of theater, the camp itself offers a positive, supportive environment to help campers learn and improve their skills in acting, singing, and dancing on stage. It’s also a fantastic program for those who want to gain a little more self-confidence.

The hours for the internship would be Monday to Friday 10-4. For those who are interested in trying out the camp itself (open to those from 1st grade to 12th grade), the camp hours are Monday – Thursday from 10-4. There is an interview process for internship candidates, so it’s better to apply sooner rather than later.

For more information on either of these programs, please contact Laine Diep at lained2003@gmail.com. To apply for the internship opportunities, please email Sean Heartly at SHartley@kaufmanmusiccenter.org
