As always, May is busy at Center School!
Next Friday, May 19 is the Jogathon. The following week we have our May PTA meeting and elections on May 22. Finally, we will be hosting our next PTA Community Coffee on Wednesday, May 24, in the courtyard, after morning drop-off.
We will be selling tickets for the annual Basket Raffle at our community coffee and the baskets will be on display! Winning tickets will be drawn on June 1, the day of the 8th Grade Show.
Don’t forget, school is closed Monday, May 29.
A special thank you to all our teachers and staff, we are grateful for you!

CRJE
CRJE would like to thank all the attendees for their engagement at the Break Bread and Build Belonging event on Tuesday, May 9. We made new connections and came up with some ways to keep the connections going further. CRJE welcomes new interested members. Look out for our committee’s June meeting date!
And as always, please email Tari or email Ali to ask questions or express interest.
Jogathon
The 36th Annual Jogathon will be hosted on Friday May 19 in Riverside Park. The Jogathon is a fundraising event for The Center School. The proceeds help send the entire school on unique year-end trips. Your student should have brought home a pledge sheet with details on how they can collect donations. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s advisor.
Basket Raffle
Each Student received ten tickets last week. You can purchase these tickets to help kick off our annual Basket Raffle.
Each homeroom is raffling off a unique, fantastic basket filled with beautiful supplies. Tickets are $1.00 each. There is a limitless supply of tickets in the office upon request.
Please put your name or child’s name on the tickets you purchase and the homeroom number of the baskets you would like to enter to win. The basket proceeds will help make the all-school trip a reality.
Please contact Ms. Berkery with questions or for more tickets.

PTA and SLT Opportunities
Center School Executive Board nominations for the 2023-24 school year are open. Any parent or guardian of a current Center School student may run for a board or SLT seat (with the exception of Center School or DOE employees).
CALL TO ACTION: We are specifically looking for candidates for Co-Presidents but welcome interest in any positions.
We have not received any interest and do not have anyone running for Co-President. According to our by-laws, this is a necessary position of our PTA to be active and to conduct fundraising to support the school.
Also, there has been no interest in the open SLT position (1 spot).
Please email any questions, expressions of interest, and nominations to centerschoolelections@gmail.com. Nominations will close at 8:00pm on Friday, May 19th. Please include your name, your child’s name and grade, the position you are interested in, your email address and phone number.
Elections will take place at our virtual PTA meeting on Monday, May 22nd at 6:30pm. Immediately prior to voting, any additional nominations will be taken from the floor. Please be prepared to speak for 1 minute about yourself.
All positions are open:
Co-President – one year term
Co-Vice President – one year term
Co-Secretary – one year term
Co-Treasurer – one year term
PLEASE CONSIDER RUNNING FOR ONE OF THESE POSITIONS.
