CRJE
CRJE will host a special presentation Monday evening at our May PTA meeting.
“The Quest to Promote Positive and Neutral Content Online”
A special presentation by Rachel Lowenstein, Global Head of Inclusive Innovation at Mindshare, and moderated by Center School Parent and CRJE co-chair Tari Coy about the media consumed by OUR kids and their friends.
Since the pandemic, screen time has steadily increased in children. According to Common Sense Media, on average, daily screen use went up among tweens (ages 8 to 12) to five hours and 33 minutes and among teens (ages 13-18) went up to eight hours and 39 minutes.
All children are impacted by the increased time spent online and on social media. Still, the media has created an unfortunate forced choice where men and boys have two options: media that seeks to radicalize them by buying into anti-feminist, racist, misogynistic ideas OR media that mostly ignores the pain of men and boys altogether. There are very few options for positive male role models which makes the “manosphere” that much more enticing for men and boys since many toxic creators (i.e. Andrew Tate, Fresh & Fit) position themselves as “role models” to boys and men.
Rachel Lowenstein, Global Head of Inclusive Innovation at Mindshare, will take us through her research and quest to promote positive and neutral content online.
Basket Raffle
You can still purchase tickets to our annual Basket Raffle.
Each homeroom is raffling off a unique, fantastic basket filled with beautiful supplies. Tickets are $1.00 each. There is an unlimited supply of tickets in the office upon request.
Please put your name or child’s name on the tickets you purchase and the homeroom number of the baskets you would like to enter to win. The basket proceeds will help make the all-school trip a reality.
Please contact Ms. Berkery with questions or for more tickets.
